Karnataka records 28,869 new coronavirus cases, 548 deaths in single day

Bengaluru, May 20: Karnataka on Thursday, May 20, registered 28,869 new coronavirus cases.

As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state stand at 534,954. Bengaluru Urban reported 9,409 cases in a single day.

As many as 548 deaths due to coronavirus were reported on Thursday, with Bengaluru Urban recording 289 deaths and Ballari 22. With this, the toll so far has risen to 23,854.

The state recorded 52,257 discharges from hospitals, taking the total discharges so far to 17,76,695.

So far, Karnataka has seen 23,35,524 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The positivity rate for the day stands at 23.91%, while the case fatality rate for the day is 1.89%.

As many as 1,15,08,005 people have received vaccination so far.

    Karnataka is already at the top in terms of active cases and still district administration's are allowing religious functions such as in Gadag flouting all Covid restrictions, that too during lockdown. No good is going to happen in Karnataka with the present ruling dispensation.
