Mangaluru, May 20: Amal Xavier Caribal, an official working for a cargo ship titled SSL Ganga, which had sailed off from Bunder here for Gujarat, went missing after falling into the sea on Saturday. He was from Kanyakumari.
The cargo ship had crossed the jurisdiction of Panambur port and covered 16.08 nautical miles towards Gujarat when the ship found it impossible to move ahead because of a strong cyclone. The captain of the ship ordered the anchoring of the ship. Chief officer of the ship, Benil Ramachandra, along with Tamandeep Singh and Amal, was trying to lower the anchor from the front deck when huge waves rocked the boat. Amal fell into the sea at that time. The other three who fell into the deck, were injured.

Two persons in the rear deck were injured after falling. The captain informed about the development to the concerned. They anchored there, and after the waves eased the next day, returned to Panambur port. Staff of Amogh Logistic Agency admitted the injured into a private hospital here after carrying them in an ambulance.
The person who went missing after the fall was 60 year old. His height is 5'4", thin build with dark complexion. He was wearing an orange colour boiler suit. A missing case has been registered at Panambur police station in this respect.
