Mangaluru, May 18: Based on complaints received from the public about the confusion about the rate lists exhibited in the Horticultural Producers Marketing and Processing Cooperative Ltd (HOPCOMS), MLA Vedavyasa Kamath, and mayor Premananda Shetty, visited the HOPCOMS stall at Karangalpady and scrutinized the operations.
They said that towards breaking the chain of the coronavirus second wave, the state government has enforced lockdown and issued guidelines. For purchase of essentials, time from 6 am to 10 am has been allotted, and HOPCOMS is allowed to sell vegetables and fruits to people from 6 am to 6 pm, they explained.
They said that all the HOPCOMS stalls in the city have to publish rate chart publicly every day without fail and bill should be issued to every customer. Kamath and Shetty directed HOPCOMS managing director to see that the instructions are followed at the HOPCOMS outlets at Urwa Store, Urwa market, Kadri Shivbagh, Karangalpady, Mannagudda, Padavinangady, State Bank, Bondel, and Marnamikatte. City corporator Kadri Manohar Shetty was present.
Covid kits
The MLA and the mayor symbolically set in motion the programme of distribution of kits to be distributed to people who are symptomatic and on home quarantine within the city corporation limits, to the ASHA workers and health workers. Kamath said that the kits, which contain paracetamol, anti-biotic, vitamin C and zinc tablets will be delivered to the infected persons by the ASHA workers and health workers.
MLA Kamath also said he has requested the minister to arrange to issue boiled rice to ration card holders through fair price shops as the people of the district are accustomed to use boiled rice. He said that the minister has promised to verify the request.
