Mangaluru, May 11: The second day of lockdown witnessed lesser movement of people and vehicles on the road on Tuesday May 11.
Police are manning check posts. Even DCP Hariram and police commissioner N Shashi Kumar visited the check post at clock tower in the city.
Many cases of lockdown violation like yesterday were not reported as the vehicular movement was less. Even in market, people were less compared to Monday.
The police commissioner has again urged people not to come out of their houses unnecessarily and without any genuine reason.
It is understood that Monday witnessed more crowds due to the weekend lockdown. By 10.30 am on Tuesday, the vehicular movement was almost nil.
Speaking to media, the police commissioner said that the lockdown will be strictly enforced. “There was confusion among the people on Monday about the rules of the lockdown. As there was a weekend lockdown prior to that, there was more rush yesterday. Today there has been a good response to the lockdown from the people living in the city and its outskirts.
“Within the limits of the commissionerate, no force was used, nor was caning resorted to. But we will take stern steps to enforce lockdown rules. People violating lockdown rules and traffic rules will be acted against. For this purpose, teams have been formed in each of the police stations. In case of violation of law, vehicles would be seized,” he said.
