Sullia, Aug 10: Umesh (48), son of Raghava Gowda from Poojarikody Hosamane in Nalkoor village near Subrahmanya in the taluk, shot himself dead on Monday August 9. He was working as a postman in Nadugal post office.
Reportedly, Umesh completed his morning ablutions and entered his room. He used a gun meant for hunting the animals, and after aiming it to his chest, pulled the trigger with his foot. The family members, who heard the gunshot, came running, and saw Umesh lying in a pool of blood. In a suicide note found in the shirt pocket of the deceased, Umesh said, he chose to commit suicide because of an ailment from which he had been suffering from since a few days.
Sullia circle inspector of police, Lakshman Kumar, Subrahmanya station house officer, Sunil Kumar and others rushed to the spot and took the gun into possession. After conducting post mortem, the body was handed over to the family.
Umesh is survived by father, a brother, wife, two sons and a daughter.
