Udupi, May 5: “In democracy, opposition parties have equal responsibility as that of the ruling party. Resignation of a person is not the solution to all issues. Opposition parties can give suggestions. They have to work for controlling Covid situation also. As a former chief minister (CM), he (Siddaramaiah) has also got power. Because of the earlier government which was led by him, we have arrived at this situation. None of the hospitals are upgraded as per the population in that area. So he has to agree on this point,” said Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje in the city on Wednesday May 5.
Responding on the issue of blocking of ICU beds in Bengaluru, she said, “People who are misusing this Covid situation are not human beings. They are demons. People who do not have humanity have done this work. This is a systematically operated network. Whoever has done this, should be slapped with IPC 307 and kept inside prison permanently. Licence of the company should be revoked immediately.”
On violence in Bengal, she said, “Mamata Banerjee does not have the moral right to become the CM of West Bengal. She got defeated in her own constituency. After the elections, the work of disturbing peace is going in West Bengal. They are instigating communal violence. They have started killing people of one community and goondaism also. They have put fire to BJP office itself. This was never seen in the history of India. BJP is united throughout the country.”
Explaining the gap between demand and supply of oxygen, Shobha said, “Coronavirus infections may increase fourfold in coming days. The district administration has taken steps to convert hostels, educational institutions and old colleges as Covid care centers. Those who have low risk and does not have facility at home can avail the benefit of this arrangement.
“Oxygen is being produced in various industries and hospitals. As it is misused in some places, patients have faced inconvenience. The district administration is bringing oxygen from other places. After the tragedy at Chamarajanagar, state government has taken strict action. When there is oxygen shortage, the districts have to coordinate with each other,” she said.
