Coercive action on social post on Covid will be treated as contempt: Supreme Court

New Delhi, Apr 30 (IANS): The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday continued its hearing on the Covid situation and said any clampdown on information will be treated as contempt.

The apex court flagged the issue of threat of coercive action against people putting help calls on social media.

"We want to make it very clear that if citizens communicate their grievance on social media and Internet then it cannot be said its wrong information", the court said.

"We don't want any clampdown of information. We will treat it as a contempt of court if such grievances are considered for action. Let a strong message go to all the states and DGPs of states", a Supreme Court bench comprising Justices D.Y. Chandrachud, Nageswara Rao and S. Ravindra Bhat observed during the hearing.

Justice Chandrachud has also asked if a mechanism can be developed to show real time updates regarding the allocation of oxygen.

It also expressed concern over the drug shortage and asked why should the court not issue directions under Section 100 and Section 92 of the Patents Act to enable generics to manufacture drugs without the fear of legal action.

The court expressed its reservation on the price disparity of the vaccine. Justice S Ravindra Bhat told the Solicitor General about the differential pricing for Covid vaccines. "Why should we as a nation pay this? The price difference becomes 30 to 40,000 crores. There is no point for price difference. We are not directing it but you should look into it".

In its last hearing on April 27, the bench had asked the state governments to file a report on their health infrastructure and did not restrain the High Courts from passing any order on Covid.

The apex court asked the state governments to file replies by Thursday with regard to their health infrastructure and said that the High Courts are not restrained from passing any directions as they are hearing the cases in their respective states and they know the ground situation better.

The bench had asked the central government to explain the basis and rationale behind the pricing of anti-Covid vaccines and other necessary items.

BJP came to power telling half truths and lies.... Once assumed power, due to the sheer number of legislators BJP became so arrogant and thus aloof to the ground reality. Instead of understanding the requirements of the common man they were more into furthering the agenda of the ideological mentors... Thus came CAA, NRC, Farm Bills, Kashmir etc.... First phase of a Covid was utter mismanagement with playing Politics during Pandemics.... Till M P Government was brought down, no lockdown was imposed virtually putting the entire State at stake... Tablighis were blamed earlier and now same people conducted Kumbh Mela with fanfare.... Just a week back BJP was thinking of celebrating their Government’s anniversary.... NEROndra Modi was fiddling in Bengal / Kerala when the country was burning.... On top of all these BJP was stifling voices of dissent.... Godi media was not showing the truth and whoever tried to expose the Government was called anti national and slapped sedition charges.... Modi is nothing but a CLINICAL NARCISSIST and it is his attitude which has caused the present situation in the country. Atma Nirbhar Bharat is today on its knees before other countries seeking help because of faulty policies like Vaccine Mitra. Hope Andhbhakts will not reject Oxygen from Middle East calling it “Oxygen Jihad”. Instead of stifling voices of dissent let them shed their egos and keep their eyes and ears open to the ground reality and make amends to their wrong-doings because Bellicose Jingoistic Patriotism won’t work.

Media has to play a responsible role ..They should stop talking against their own people and stop showing dead bodies and burning pyres .. The Indian Media is the only Media which is insensitive and acts against its own people and its image ..' I am not saying you should not criticize the govt or wrong doings ..But just take due care and due diligence before reporting ..First ask a question to yourself " Am I reporting and writing for some Known and unknown vested interest by way of religion ,Caste ,Creed ..etc ..etc .." Or Am I reporting to better the current process or shortcomings in the current process and the governance framework" OTherwise you can see the Indian Channels how irresponsible they are ..They are totaly blind and they themselves are the thieves .. often run by vested interest groups from within India or abroad.

Supreme court..Finally!. This country has become a joke. Helping people with oxygen cylinders may invite an arrest. Eg..Noori Khan in MP. Posting requests for help will be termed an offense. Government will not help anyone..which is not an offense🤣. The government officials, DM etc switch off their phones, don't respond, abuse and threaten to slap people...it's not offense.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Finally the courts are waking up. Whenever a government starts suppressing people's voice it shows there is a serious problem and its very dangerous for the growth of the country. It is true throughout world history be it any democratic country. The present government has become extremely arrogant and has reached a stage where the feel whatever they do its right. They have stopped even listening to any criticism or ADVICES. THE PRESENT DISASTER IS ONLY BECAUSE OF THIS ATTITUDE OF THE GOVERNMENT. Its very sad and unfortunate that Human lives mean nothing to them.

Finally the courts are waking up. The min any government starts suppressing people's voice then something is seriously wrong. Its true throughout history. When the government is doing something wrong they should listen to the people and try to rectify rather oppose and show arrogance saying we are right...!! Its very unfortunate that the present government has reached a stage where they feel they are perfect and they dont need to listen to anyone. THE GOVERNMENT IS ABSOLUTELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PRESENT DISASTER when they failed to act upon repeated evidences that lead to this present situation.
