Mumbai, July 29 (IANS) A six-year-old boy was killed and six injured when a four-storied building here collapsed early Thursday, an official said.
The building, Rafique Estate of Kasaiwada in Kurla area of north-east Mumbai, came crashing down around midnight, trapping many of the occupants who were sleeping.
"Nine fire engines were rushed to the spot for the rescue and relief operations," an official of the fire brigade said.
While a majority of the occupants managed to come out safely, six-year-old Shahid Khan was trapped inside the building and died due to suffocation.
The six injured, which includes three women and fireman Ravindra Popale of Vikhroli Fire Brigade, have been admitted to the LT Sion Hospital.
This is the first major building crash in Mumbai this monsoon.
