Mangalore Jul 23: ‘Ijjodu’, a Kannada movie partly based on a real life incident will be released at New Chitra theatre here on Friday July 23.
Speaking to media persons at Press Club here director M S Sathyu said, though Reliance Big Pictures Productions were supposed to take the responsibility of promoting the movie they did not receive any kind of cooperation from them. So he himself along with actor Anirudh, other movie crew, the media and clubs like Rotaract had to visit each city for promotional works, he added.
He also thanked the theatre owners including New Chitra and Kalpana for showcasing the movie without theatre rent and supporting the movie. The movie is a story based on a Devdasi culture followed in India and the story is inspired by two writers of Kannada Masthi Venkatesh Iyengar and Anand.
Actor of the movie Anirudh said that it was a great opportunity to act in Sathyu’s movie which was one among his 15 movies in ten years as he is selective in acting in the movie. He also revealed that his sisters Arundathi and Meera Jasmine who are basically Kerala actresses spoke fluently in Kannada in the movie. Renowned camera man Bhaskar and lyricist Sudir Raj Attavar were present.
