Mangalore: Modern Fire Station Commences Operations in Airport

Mangalore, Jul 20: As a precursor for the beginning of operations of the local airport in its new terminal by the end of this month, a modern, category-9 fire station, started functioning there on Monday July 19.

Religious procedures in this connection were performed by Anantapadmanabha Asranna of Kateel temple. Airport director, M R Vasudeva, initiated the operations of the fire station. Head of the fire department of the airport, Dhananjay Shanbhag, and heads of other departments, were present.

Category-9 is one of the most sophisticated fire stations that are stationed in international airports, which includes emergency medical centre, emergency treatment unit, trained personnel and experts, among other facilities. Earlier, the local airport was equipped with category-6 fire station.

    Dear all,

    I want to comment on two things:-

    1. There is no sanctity for the date of inauguration of new terminal by the end of this month. Many such promises have come and gone !!

    2. I am not a religious chauvinist, but I don't understand why the inauguration of fire station was conducted with the prist of Kateel temple. Why not a father of Mangalore church or a Maulavi of Mangalore mosque? India should not only , but also should be seen to be a secular country.

    Again we heard the new terminal bldg will be operational by end of month.... FOR GOD SAKE pls stop mentioning the functioning of new terminal bldg. ALL WE WANT TO KNOW IS WHEN THE BLACK BOX DETAILS WILL BE MADE PUBLIC of the Air India Express which crash landed 2months back? I think everyone is forgetting the important msg to be revealed by aviation ministry... they try to fool people by revealing new things about air port functionality every second day. Request all the local people who were united at the time of crash... cometogether once again to press for & demand the release of block box mistry.

    Well begun half done!Hope this move will prove the contrary.In the last air tragedy i understand fire brigade was only for formality rather attending to emergeny work.Is it true?

    I have heard that during the recent air crash the fire engine vehicle at airport was inoperative for long time(more than a month!!!!!)can this possible?
