Haveri, Mar 19: In an incident which happened at the agricultural college at Hanumanamatti in Ranebennur taluk in the district, a teacher reportedly raped a student repeatedly. The incident came out into the open with lot of delay.

Assistant professor, Dr Noor Nawaz A S, has been named as the accused in the case. It is said that he asked the girl to sexually cooperate with him if she wanted to pass the examination. He then raped her in his chamber, it is learnt.

He later forced her to accompany him to Haveri where he hired a house and raped the girl several times there. The girl claims that the teacher threatened her to see that she fails in the exams besides posing a threat to her life, if she revealed about the happenings to others. The wife of the accused who came to know of the illicit relationship, went to Haveri on March 12 and thrashed the girl student.

The aggrieved student, on the evening of March 17, filed a complaint at the rural police station here. The police have registered a case and begun investigation.
