Goa reports highest single-day rise since Feb 16

Panaji, Mar 17: Goa reported the highest single-day toll since February 16. The tally of active cases rose to 791, with 92 new cases reported, while 73 people were declared cured. A 58-year-old woman from Sawantwadi who was undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC), and had the comorbid condition had succumbed to the virus. The Covid-19 casualties climbed to 812 with four deaths reported during the day.

A 48-year-old from Bandora, a 50-year-old from Taleigao and a 65-year-old woman from Colva passed away from the disease. All of the three deceased had comorbidities.

While a majority of cases have been reported from Panaji and Margao, the new infections are slowly rising in other parts of the state as well. Mapusa, Chimbel, Candolim, Porvorim, Cortalim and Vasco are also witnessing a steady rise in new infections.
