Social boycott of former Congress worker for joining BJP in Hubballi

Daijiworld Media Network - Hubballi (MS)

Hubballi, Mar 12: It is common to hear social boycott of families in villages for reasons like drawing water from the well that belongs to the people of upper caste or eating food at a hotel. But in a surprising incident that has taken place in this commercial city, a man, who deserted Congress to join BJP is boycotted from society.

Former Congress worker Abdul Munna Indapuri, who joined BJP a few days ago in the presence of former CM and minister Jagadish Shettar has been boycotted from the society.

The Muslim community in the city had expressed rage against Abdul for joining BJP. Mutawalli Asif Pachapura has taken out an order to socially boycott Munna. Abdul has been boycotted by the Jamia Jumma Makaan Masjid Jamaat. This order was carried out on the night of Thursday itself.

Abdul, who is a resident of Mulla Oni of Dakappa Circle is accused by the Muslim representatives that he has become a religious fanatic after joining a religiously fanatic party like BJP.

In addition to boycotting Abdul, the Muslim community leaders have asked him to vacate his house and the shop which he has at Mulla Oni. Abdul has expressed rage against the social boycott by the Muslim community. He says that there is no law in the country which says that Muslim should be in a particular political party or not. He also says that he has the right to take decision with regards to political party affiliation.

"I joined BJP on my own. I have agreed to the ideals of the party and joined. Now the people of my community are pressurizing me to vacate my shop for joining BJP. They are also mentally harassing me," he said.

Leaders of the Muslim community of Mulla Oni and Kaulapeta as well as many leaders of the east legislative assembly constituency have joined BJP in the presence of Jagadish Shettar. This has created disappointment among certain members of the Muslim community.

Chandra, in a DK regional language 'Chilli' is an object, in which you can hardly dip your nails if its filled with water (it's not the English chili), leave alone drowning. I purposely used this word instead of Hindi's 'Chillu' whatever it may mean. Also, my that response was supposed to be under Albert's 'What to do ?' Mistakenly posted under Albert's 'true colour'. I realized the misplacement yet refrained from mentioning it.

People have to understand the tenets of our constitution, where each of us have the right to choose amongst the available legal options. Some are still having a mindsets of dictatorship. We see this in many forms specially in upper caste_ lower caste issues. I In Kolkata few days back a Catholic Priest resigned from priesthood to join BJP. Some people resented, it's o.k, but didn't go to the extent of social boycott for it's within their constitutional guaranteed rights.

One thing I want to say here, that BJP is a party that came to power telling people that Islam and Christianity enticed Hindus to their religion hence the number of Hindus is less (still becoming less because such conversion continues). Secondly, BJP has history of breaking religious monuments/places of prayer of Muslims/Christians in Independent India times. I agree such atrocities have taken place before 1947, when there was no democracy, ever king did that to safeguard his domain. But India attain independence unitedly not on the basis of religion hence breaking places of worship in independent India is an absolute crime. Any religion is nobody's property, it's an intangible wealth, a very precious one. As such, if a Muslim/Christian is drawn towards BJP, it's purely on selfish grounds, not out of genuine consideration. If any of these two community members get elected as Congress candidates but later migrate to BJP, it's equal to working for Pakistan while being an Indian. None less. Yes, an Indian has fundamental right to chose his political party but he should be loyal/faithful to any (repeat, any) party that he represented, hopping for monetary gain does not depict him as INDIAN, he is a Paki spy. Just that ! People today are getting sensible. Boycotts such as this will increase in times to come. Therefore peoples representatives, beware when you decide to betray a society.

Could be only because he must be mentally not sound.....being a catholic priest somebody cant join politics....this is again politicizing religious sentiments like BJP which is a crime according to Indian constitution....according to me any religious leader should be barred from either talking or acting in politics and vice versa....Even politician attending religious function in personal capacity should not be publicized when he or she is in power...Unfortunately BJP is banking on only that....public money shall be not spent to any religious reason...never pay either to church or temple....because appeasing starts from here...

"He says that there is no law in the country which says that Muslim should be in a particular political party or not. He also says that he has the right to take decision with regards to political party affiliation." Oh yes. But there is also no law that you should hop parties at your convenience, betraying the voters who elected you to a specific party, not to the new party that you have hopped into. You want to leave, leave as an individual - not as a MP/MLA. Well-done people, this should be done to all those who jump parties upon being offered a position and money.

It's common to hear social boycott of families in villages for drawing water from wells belonging to upper caste? Oh really? But you are surprised to hear Muslims boycotting for religious purpose? Yea - Upper castes are very intolerant and Muslims are very liberal minded. Catholic community seems to have forgotten all the abuse in the hands of Tipu and Islamic rulers. Have some self-respect and don't be shameful.
