Sullia, Jul 13: In a shocking incident, political and social leader and one of the leading personalities of temple town, Subrahmanya, in the taluk, Krishnakumar Rudrapada (39) committed suicide on Monday July 12 by consuming poison. He is survived by wife, mother, a brother and four sisters.
Krishnakumar had started in his car to Mangalore with wife, from his home in Subrahmanya on Monday morning. After dropping off his wife at her office, he reached his house in Mangalore, where he consumed poison. Although he was immediately taken to a hospital, he was declared brought dead. Reasons for his sudden decision to end his life, remain a mystery.
Krishnakumar was a born leader, having exhibited leadership qualities even during his student days. He was the president of the college students’ union, member of Sullia taluk panchayat, president of Subrahmanya gram panchayat etc. He used to guide villagers to end their disputes by offering amicable solutions, and throbbed to the problems of the poor people. Currently, he was the president of Dakshina Kannada district panchayat council. He was active in the Jaycee movement and had functioned as the president of innumerable committees celebrating festivals and religious occasions including renovation of the temples. He was an accomplished drama artiste too. He was a member of the BJP district committee and taluk and district committee member of BJP Yuvamorcha.
Sri Vidyaprasannateertha Swamiji of Subrahmanya Mutt, MP, D V Sadanand Gowda, MLA, S Angara, BJP leaders, S N Manmatha and Venkat Dambekody, dignitaries,Yajnesh Achar, T M Shahid, K S Devaraj, Sullia town panchayat president, N A Ramachandra, P B Diwakar Rai etc., have offered condolences at the shocking demise of the young leader.
