Beach club in Candolim inspected on grounds of irregularities

Calangute, Mar 11: A beach club was inspected by the Candolim panchayat that was allegedly committing irregularities in the no-development zone (NDZ) at Candolim beach. The complaint, filed by Calangute Constituency Forum (CCF) before the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA), claimed that a swimming pool and other illegal structures had been constructed by encroaching on the beach within the 100m NDZ.

Candolim sarpanch Blaize Fernandes stated that the panchayat secretary has made a panchanama in this regard.

“There are many illegalities and once the secretary prepares the report, we will initiate the process for restoration of the land,” he was quoted in a report by TOI.
