Johannesburg, July 12 (DPA) Andres Iniesta's goal in the 116th minute earned Spain their first World Cup title with a 1-0 victory over the Netherlands Sunday as well as the Man of the Match honour for the Barcelona midfielder.
Iniesta was one of the leading forces in Spain's attack, helping set up a number of chances. The 26-year-old collected his second goal of the tournament late in extra time to give Spain the title. Iniesta also was fouled on the play which saw John Heitinga of the Netherlands get sent off.
It was Iniesta's 49th cap and his eighth goal in his Spanish career. He was also named Man of the Match in the games against Chile and Paraguay.
