Mangalore Jul 10: After watching the video of Gregory Patrao’s house demolition and the unconcerned attitude of authorities and elected representatives, the chairman of Savayava Krishi Mission (State Organic Farming Mission) A S Anand paid a visit to the city on Friday July 9.
Even after 23 days of intense hunger strike, there was no sign of concern from any polititical leaders or government officials.
Anand mainly intended to discuss the matter with Patrao and the deputy Commissioner V Ponnuraj. But due to the unavailability of the DC the discussion was held between Anand and additional deputy commissioner Prabhakar Sharma. The supporters of Patrao were present on the occasion.
Sharma said that he was unaware of the things that happened to Patrao and other farmers as the documents submitted by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) were perfectly clear. According to that the land was acquired with prior permission and the amount of the land was also paid.
Anand told the reporters that he will take the issue to the chief Minister at Shimoga Krishi Mela on Sunday Jul and produce the CD of house demolish which will help Patrao get back his property and the compensation. “ The case against Patrao needs to be withdrawn. When a terrorist is given a chance to appeal why not a poor farmer”, he questioned. He also said that the government should not plan for any kind of projects on agricultural lands.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Anand said that the sufferings and problems of other farmers who were victims of KIADB will be considered in the discussion and they’ll come up with a fair solution.
