Bantwal, Jul 6: After a KSRTC bus driver lost control over his vehicle and hit a Maruti WagonR car at Mittoor on Mani-Mysore state highway on Sunday May 4 evening. Walter Lobo (42), Victor Lobo (60), Priya Jois (30), Dalon Lobo (28), and John Pravin Lobo (23), residents of Kuttar near Mangalore, were injured in the accident.
Out of the above injured, the condition of Walter Lobo, who was driving the vehicle, was critical. Hence, he was shifted to a hospital in Mangalore. It is learnt that the family was returning to Mangalore after attending an auspicious function in Shantinagar in Uppinangady, when a KSRTC bus moving towards Mysore from Mangalore, suddenly swerved aside and hit the car. Both the hands of Priya Jois, a teacher of Capitanio School in Mangalore, suffered extensive injuries in the accident. The other injured were given first aid at a hospital in Puttur, before being shifted to a private hospital in Mangalore.
The front portion of the car was badly damaged in the accident, and the car was tossed into a roadside gorge. One of the tyres of the bus too burst at the same time. A case was registered at Vittal police station in this connection.
