Bengaluru, Feb 23: Even though standards six to eight in the state reopened on Monday February 22, confusion prevailed in the schools located in areas bordering Kerala and Maharashtra states. On the first day, 13,59,761 students attended classes 6 to 8, which works to 42.91 percent of the total student strength. This includes students who attended Vidyagama programme within the city limits here and on Kerala border schools, the department of public instruction officials stated.
Many students and teachers from Maharashtra and Kerala working in Karnataka could not attend classes because of the condition relating to coronavirus negative certificate. There was rush in centres which conduct coronavirus tests and many failed to get the certificate in time.
In Dakshina Kannada, the attendance was 68.24 percent while in Udupi, the attendance worked out to 54.58 percent. Vijayapura with 22.21 percent attendance, registered the lowest attendance in the state.
