Mangaluru, Feb 21: Hundreds of devotees gathered at Car Street in the city on Saturday February 20, to witness and partake in the Okuli celebration, as part of Kodial Teru festival.

The young and the old gathered in huge number at the temple square here and celebrated the Okuli by smearing colours and sharing fraternal greetings. It looked as if the entire temple square was painted with rainbow colours. Devotees swayed in merriment.

The famous Kodial Teru concluded with the grand and colourful Okuli celebration.

The entire area of Car Street wore a festive look. Inside the temple, religious customs were performed as per the tradition of the GSB society.

The annual five-day Kodial Teru is an event celebrated by the Gaud Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) community in commemoration of the divine union of Lord Venkataramana and Goddess Padmavathi.

No point barring people from Kerala and Maharashtra from entering Karnataka if the local government gives permission for such avoidable mass gatherings. Travel ban makes no sense if these mega functions are allowed locally . There is a high possibility that we may have a COVID spike here over the next few days
