Bengaluru, Feb 21: Cases of second wave of Covid are increasing in the neighbouring states. As a precaution the state government has taken certain steps to prevent the same from spreading in Karnataka.

Corona negative report is made mandatory for all those who are arriving into Karnataka from Kerala. Similarly, the government has taken out an order to make the same mandatory for people arriving from Maharashtra. People arriving from both states should have RT-PCR negative report that is done within 72 hours of arriving in Karnataka.

Covid cases are increasing at an alarming rate in Maharashtra. The number of new cases has increased to 645 from 350 in Mumbai. More than 6,000 new cases are detected in Maharashtra on Friday. That is why the government of Karnataka has resorted to strict action.

RT-PCR negative report is mandatory for all those arriving by bus, train, flight or private vehicles. Ground staff of airlines have to ensure the report at the boarding point itself. Conductors of buses should give the ticket to the passenger after confirming the negative report. Passengers who have bought the ticket online have to show the negative report to the conductor before boarding the bus. Staff of railways also have to take action for inspecting the report of passengers. Toll gate staff is informed to inspect the reports of people who enter the state in their private vehicles.

Any hostel, residential school and regular schools that report five or more than five cases of Covid-19 should be declared as Containment Zone. After seven days repeat RTPCR test should be done for students and staff. In addition, educational institutions must mandatorily follow wearing of face masks, use of hand sanitizer, social distancing and supervision of those showing symptoms of infection.

Nodal officer needs to be nominated in schools and colleges where students of Maharashtra origin are studying and who exhibit symptoms of Covid.
