Udupi, Feb 20: “We do not want money from Popular Front of India (PFI) to build Ram Mandir,” said Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje.
Speaking to media persons on Saturday, February 20, she said, “PFI is an anti-national organisation. It is killing our RSS volunteers. We do not want money from them to build Ram Mandir. If PFI is making comments on Ram Mandir, it is anti-national.
“I have held discussions with the central and state governments to ban PFI. The home ministry is investigating all the cases registered against PFI. Once the investigation is completed, it will be banned.
“In Kerala, PFI is conducting processions holding weapons in hands with permission from the state government. The Kerala government is permitting the PFI to hold processions even after knowing that it is an anti-national organisation just to attain votes.
“PFI members are involved in various murder cases also. The Kerala government is trying to appease Muslims by giving permission to PFI to operate. We condemn the move of the Kerala government.
“On the incident in Mangaluru, state home minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that the matter will be taken seriously and accused will be booked. We will investigate the matter and arrest the accused soon,” she said.
Toll issue
Speaking about the agitation of the locals seeking exemption from toll charges, Shobha said, "Locals were given passes for an amount of Rs 265. This system is functional all over the nation. In our region, many associations are agitating to reduce the amount of the pass. We will discuss the issue with the concerned agency. I have instructed the deputy commissioner to invite the NHAI and toll gate officials for the Disha meeting which will take place on Monday. We need to request them to reduce the amount. We will do that.”
