Mangaluru special court which heard the case and the arguments of special public prosecutor K S N Rajesh concluded that the guilt of the accused is proved. The district and sessions court and Lokayukta special court Justice B B Jakati has pronounced the verdict.

The accused will undergo one-year imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs 5,000 for the crime under section 7 of the Corruption Prevention Act and undergo another two years of imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs 5,000 for the crime under section 13(1)(d). Failure to pay the fines will attract another two months of imprisonment, stated the Justice in the verdict dated February 19. The then Lokayukta inspector Dileep Kumar had conducted investigations and submitted the charge sheet to the court in this connection.

"In the above case, the plaintiff had testified wrongfully in the Hon'ble Court. The Supreme Court verdict and special public prosecutor K S N Santosh Kumar said that the accused could be punished on the basis of other contextual evidence, even if the accused gave contradictory evidence to a serious case like that of corruption," the judge said taking note of the public prosecutor's argument.
