Margao: Health Minister Pays Surprise Visit to Hospicio Hospital

Margao, Jun 30: Health minister Vishwajeet Rane paid a surprise visit to Hospicio Hospital, the government- run premier hospital of South Goa on Tuesday June 29.

 

The minister checked the functioning of the hospital. Recently Chief Minister Digamber Kamat had paid two surprise visits in a single day and had ordered the authorities to give better treatment to patients.  He had served ultimatum to workers in the government run hospital that he will not tolerate the negligence at work, and action would be initiated against failures.

 

Rane enquired with the doctors about the attendance of staff and requirements that are needed to cater to the needs of patients as regards availability of medicines, adequate staff and other health facilities.

 

The health minister who visited various wards in the hospital such as emergency, orthopedics, medicine, surgery, dialysis unit, kitchen and others also get acquainted with the ongoing work of new operation theatre, the work of which is being executed under GSIDC.

 

Rane also directed the ward matron to change the dirty bed sheets if any, with new sheets regularly to maintain cleanliness. He instructed the doctors accompanying him to bring to the notice of the Government about the requirements of the hospital that caters to the health care needs of thousands of people from South Goa.

 

Dr Jayesh Kudchadker, senior surgeon and Dr Nasnodkar, E N T Surgeon accompanied the health minister during his visit.

    Health minister's visit should be bi-monthly and a surprise one to check the activities in the hospital,particularly attendance,cleanliness and waste surgical disposal.Also ambulance vans with 24hrs.service should be available for people in far off villages are in dire need of transport during emergency.
