Udupi, Feb 17: Pejawar Swamiji on Tuesday February 16 rubbished former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy's claims that houses of people who did not donate for the construction of Ram Mandir were being marked.
In a series of tweets, Kumaraswamy had alleged that it appeared that those collecting donations for the construction of the temple had been marking the houses of those who paid up. "It appears that those collecting donations for the construction of Ram Mandir have been separately marking the houses of those who paid money and those who did not. This is similar to what Nazis did in Germany during the regime of Hitler when lakhs of people lost their lives," he had said.
Responding to the JD(S) leaders claims, Pejawar Swamiji said that the allegations were baseless and unfounded.
"Donations for Ram Janmabhoomi are being collected in a transparent manner. We intend to visit the residence of every Ram devotee in the country. Therefore, we mark the houses visited by us. The workers are doing the marking. It is not the process of marking the houses of those who did not donate for the cause. The markings are done just so that we can identify the houses that we have missed, so that we can visit them later.
"This is a noble work, and it is necessary that any comment on it is made in a responsible manner. As for Siddaramaiah's refusal to donate funds, we are not forcing anyone for donations. Those who intend to do so may hand over their contribution, and those who do not want to donate may refrain from it," he said.
When reporters asked about the dispute related to the Ayodhya land, he said, "I will not comment on the opinion that Ram Janmabhoomi land is disputed. The Supreme Court of the country has confirmed that Ayodhya is the land of the birth of Ram. We suspect the patriotism of those who do not respect the verdict of the Supreme Court," said Pejawar Swamiji.
