Bengaluru, Feb 15: The JD(S), which had earlier announced that it was not interested in fighting the bypolls because of the funds crunch, has reversed its decision. The party has now decided to field its candidates for Maski and Sindagi assembly bypolls.
Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, speaking at a convention organized by the party at the palace grounds on Sunday February 14, revealed about the party's reversal of stand.
He said he will follow the footsteps of the party's previous leaders, and will see that the party will not become the stooge of any other party, and that the JD(S) will field its candidates for the bypoll even if that means raising of loans.
Recalling that Deve Gowda had announced that no candidate would be fielded in the bypolls because of financial implications, he said candidates would be fielded if the party's national president and his father, H D Deve Gowda, permits the same.
Without mentioning the name of Siddaramaiah, he said, "Why are people, who say that the JD(S) is not a party, concerned about whether we field our candidates or not. Lacs of party workers have sweated it out to build our party."
He said that his party does not have any soft corner for the BJP. He recalled that he had fought against irregularities, corruption and plundering of wealth which happened duringthe period 2008 and 2013 and that four cases have been filed against him by way of revenge.
