Bengaluru, Feb 14: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has promised to give a good and pro-farmer budget this year.
He was speaking to reporters after the KDP meeting held at Shikaripura in his home district of Shivamogga on Sunday.
Yediyurappa promised to make honest efforts for solving the problems of people and made it clear that his government will not tolerate corruption in the administration. He also wanted the officials to work efficiently with dedication without giving any room for corruption.
Asked about the ongoing agitation demanding reservation benefits to Lingayats and other communities, the Chief Minister said the people have every right to voice their demands. But a solution must be found within the legal framework, he said promising to do his best to solve the issue.
He mentioned that he had provided larger allocations to irrigation projects and promised to continue the pro-farmer policies.
The Chief Minister said he was keen to develop Shikaripur as a model taluk in the State and asked the officials to do their best.
Urging the officials to complete all the approved works by the end of March without compromising on the quality, the Chief Minister asked the public works depary=tment officials to execute the approved projects without any delay.
Pointing out that the district provided ample opportunities for horticulture crops, he asked the farmers to ensure that the area under horticulture increased every year. Farmers must also derive the maximum benefits by resorting the mixed crops. It is possible to earn in lakhs by growing mango, banar=na, ginger, coconuts and other varities in just an acre of land, he said.
Yediyurappa said the State Government would give larger allocations for drip irrigation and asked officials to clear all pending applications for loan assistance and sanction of subsidies due to farmers.
He said the State Government would sanction two more veterinary hospitals in the taluk.
The Chief Minister said supply of sand and gravel essential for construction work should not be hindered while action will be taken against unauthorized extraction. The pending applications for crushing and extraction must be cleared in accordance with the law, he said.
He promised to ensure that the 10% contribution payable by the beneficiaries under the Jaljeevan Mission would be paid by the State Government to help the people in order to help people to get drinking water to their homes.
BJP Lok Sabha member B Y Raghaberndra, MADB President Gurumurthy, Taluk Panchayat President Suresh Naik, Deputy Commissioner Shivakumar, Chief Executive Officer Vaishali, district Superintendent of Police Shantharaju and other officials attended the meeting.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the 282nd Jayanti of Sant Seva Lal at Davangere.
Social Welfare Minister B Sriramulu, Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chavan, Urban Development Minister B A Basavaraja, Shivamogga MP B Y Raghavendra and MLA M P Renukacharya were present.
