Bengaluru, Feb 13: Deputy chief minister, Laxman Savadi, has reiterated his earlier statement that the next general assembly election will be fought under the leadership of B S Yediyurappa. He dismissed the talk of leadership change in the state as mere rumour.
Savadi was speaking to media persons at the Chitrakala Parishath here on Friday, February 12. "The information that several Lingayat legislators had written to the Prime Minister expressing resentment against the chief minister is also nothing but a rumour. No discussions whatsoever have happened in the state on this issue. There are bound to be some minor differences between the government and the party, which will be addressed by the chief minister," he stated.

On the issue of whether he will fight as a BJP candidate in the Sindagi assembly bypoll, Savadi said he is a disciplined soldier of his party. "If the party asks me to consume poison, I will do it. No discussions have been held about my candidature at Sindagi, and I have also not thought about it. I will be committed to whatever decision or stand the party takes," he asserted.
Demands of transport employees
Savadi said that out of nine demands made by the transport employees, steps have been taken to meet five. "About the important demand for salary revision, a meeting has already been held, and three to four more meetings will be needed to be held before a final decision can be taken. The corporation income has dwindled and we are raising loans to operate it. It is a normal process, and the corporations will not face any problems because of these things," he stated.
