Bengaluru, Feb 13: The state high court (HC) has instructed the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) to provide copies of charge sheets being filed in the jurisdictional courts against tainted officials after conducting investigation into incidents of corruption,to even the Lokayukta.
A division bench of the HC which heard an interim petition filed by the Loikayukta institution in the form of a rejoinder to the petition filed in the high court in which the state government's action in the formation of the ACB has been questioned. A division bench having Justice Aravnd Kumar and Justice Suraj Govindaraj passed this order.
The HC upheld the interim application moved by the Lokayukta. It said that the ACB, which investigates the complaints of corruption against officials and files charge sheets in their designated courts, has to provide a copy of such charge sheets to the Lokayuka too.
Moreover, it also said that the Lokaykukta, based on the charge sheet, can also conduct departmental inquiry against the accused officials and move against them legally.
On behalf of the Lokayukta, special public prosecutor, Venkatesh Arabatti, had placed the arguments.
