Mangaluru: Youth falls to death from 7th floor of building near Bejai

Mangaluru, Feb 12: In a tragic incident, a youth died after accidentally falling off a building near Bejai here late evening on Friday February 12.

The deceased has been identified as Saddam, a native of Assam.

Sources said that he was a cleaning staff working for a contracting company.

It is learnt that after finishing his work on the balcony of the 7th floor of the building, he was about to get down when he slipped and fell to his death.

Urwa police arrived at the spot and registered a case.

    Very sad.Poor guys come here to work and to feed their family.One has to see it like our mangaloreans go to gulf for a job.Now he is not responsible for safety at work place but the his agents or building owner.We see many times people work without safety methods.why dont officails make it a point to include safety methods to a buildings before giving a permission?He would nt slip off the balcon if there was any safety rods were fixed .Now his contractor must pay to the family some money.And he should be punished to made work without any safety.May his soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to his family.

    No civic body inspects whether safety norms are followed while working on a height...at construction site or even while doing painting for building or even while maintenance job is done on a platform or otherwise. Even the worker ignores his own safety. If is a pity workers keep loosing lives.

    @ Deshbhakt Sir, Someone hai tho mumkin hai..., since the victim is from Assam...., and name sounds like a proud Hindustani Minority community.., he may be probably asked to prove his nationality...,for the ultimate benefit to reach his dependents... or parents.., (just an out of the box point of view) Chai time...,

    Very sad ,Construction work place safety not followed Following are important 1.Put a safety net down if this is not follow 2 as below 2.The work at height worker should always wear a safety harness and that should be tied to an anchor point so that even if he slips he will never fall down
