Kadaba, Feb 12: The officials of the forest department have successfully trapped the leopard which injured two persons at Hera, Renjilady here on Friday, February 12.
The leopard was captured after tranquilizing it, and moved into a cage.
Speaking to daijiworld, deputy conservator forest V Karikalan said, "The trapped leopard is a male and about 4-years-old. It was also caught in a snare laid for other animals, but it managed to escape. Later, it attacked the couple in the wee hours of Friday. Both were shifted to hospital.
"The forest department officials who reached the spot at around 5 am managed to capture the leopard after tranquilizing it. After evaluating the condition of the leopard, it will either be released into the forest or will be taken to Pilikula," he said.
Veterinary doctors from Mysuru and Hassan took part in the operation.
Karikalan further said that it cannot be said that if it was the same leopard that had escaped from the hands of forest department officials recently in Kadaba.

Reports coming in from Hera in Renjilady village in the taluk state that a leopard has attacked two people there.
Reportedly, a leopard attacked two persons at Hera, Renjilady, at around 1.30 am on Friday, February 11. The injured were Shekhar Kamath and Saumya Kamath. They were changing the water jets at their areca nut plantation when the incident happened.
It is said that this could be the same leopard which had escaped from the hands of forest department officials where their plan to nab the leopard that had been confined in a toilet had failed.
The injured have been admitted to the Kadaba community health centre. The leopard is stated to be inside the plantation where it attacked the two. Forest officials have undertaken an operation again on Friday, in an effort to trap the leopard.
The leopard came out of the plantation and got perched on a tree later on.
Preparations are in full swing in order to somehow trap the leopard before it inflicts further damage.
Assistant conservator of forests, Austin P Soans, ranger Raghavendra, Manjunath, and other officials have come. They are taking steps to catch the leopard and not to allow it to escape as in a recent incident.
