Mangaluru, Feb 9: Dakshina Kannada district youth JD(S) president, Akshit Suvarna, has wondered what could have been the secret behind the BJP in not expelling its leader, Jagadish Adhikari, from the party for speaking derisively about Koti Chennaya, who is worshipped by the Billava community.
"People know the extent of the contribution made by the Billava in making the BJP come to power in the district. The BJP, which rose to power in the name of Koti and Chennaya, has now chosen to remain discreetly silent when its own leader spoke derisively of them. Koti and Chennaya are worshipped by the Billavas. Billava legislators and ministers are not saying anything in the matter. If the BJP leaders have respect, love and care for the Billavas and respect for Koti and Chennaya, the party would have shown the courage to expel Adhikari from the party by now. But the BJP, by remaining silent, has shown that the affection they show is fake. He requested the Billava community to understand the neglect the community is facing from the BJP at least in the days to come and cast their votes after properly considering these things whenever the issue of casting votes crops up," he said.
He demanded the Billava ministers and MLAs in the BJP to protest against the insult to their community has faced in its hands by coming out into the open. "By doing this, they should do justice to the community which chose them. Moreover, the BJP should expel Jagadish Adhikari from the party immediately. If it fails to do that, the youth JD(S) will lay siege to the BJP office," he warned.
He also questioned as to why the so-called protectors of Hinduism are silent when Koti Chennaya are insulted. He said that these leaders use Billavas to get things done and they fall silent when the community faces insult. "This is the real Hinduism they preach and practice. They need Billava youth to join them and go to jail, but when Billavas are insulted, Hindu organizations here have taken shelter under silence. Hindu organizations should get up at least now and hit back at the arrogant statements of Jagadish Adhikari," he urged.
