Pallakad, Feb 8: In a macabre incident reported from near Palakkad, a woman murdered her 6-year-old son and then claimed that she did this 'sacrifice' in order to win over Allah's grace.
The incident can be compared to an incident which happened at Hyderabad recently in which well-educated parents killed their children, blindly following their superstitious belief in rebirth. In this case from Palakkad, the mother, who happens to be a teacher by profession, murdered her son in the form of sacrifice to Allah.
After killing her son, the lady called the police to inform that she had murdered her son. She told them that this was a sacrifice to win over Allah's mercy. Her husband and two children who were sleeping in the next room never came to know when all these things happened, it is said.
The police said that the incident happened on Sunday February 7 morning. The murder-accused, Shahida (31), was waiting for the arrival of the policemen at the gate when they came. A case ofmurder was registered in this connection in Palakkad (south) police station.
Shahida from Puttupallitheruv, Palakkad, had three children. She killed her third child, six-year-old Aamil, as an 'offering' to Allah, it is learnt. She thereafter called Palakkad emergency control room and explained what she had done. The incident happened between 3 and 4 am on Sunday. She reportedly sought the phone number of police control room from her neighbours the previous night.
When the police arrived, the body of the child was found in a pool of blood inside the bathroom. The police said Shahida had slit the throat of the child and tied up both the legs. Shahida was a teacher at a Madrassa and it is learnt that she is in the third month of pregnancy now. Her husband, Sulaiman, works as a taxi driver in Palakkad town.
District superintenddent o fpolice, R Vishwanath, said that the police,who ohave registered case under sectionk 302 of Indian Penal Code, will decide whether the murder was done as a sacrifice to Allah or otherwise after investigaiton.
