Bengaluru, Feb 8: Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy explained that his party had entered into an understanding with the BJP only for the specific issue of election to the post of the legislative council chairman. He hastened to add that the two parties have not entered into any other kinds of mutual understandings.
Speaking at Channapatna in Ramanagara district on Sunday February 7, he said that understanding will be struck on the basis of issues and for the development of the state as a whole as may be necesary from time to time. He stressed there is no question of compromisng on anti -people policies.
"I have been closely observing the political developmments happening in the state. Religious leaders have entered the fray on behalf of the society. The government should take precautionary measures before these things go out of hand. The government shouid respsect the sentiments of religious leaders," he opined.
Responding to the farmers protest at Delhi, he said that the Prime Minister (PM), if he had regard for the farmers, should have invited them for a meeting. He said that instead of the minister for agriculture, the PM should have presided over the meeting. He also felt that the PM should explain to the farmers about the advanages of enactments and convince the farmers about the misconceptions if any they may be having about the laws.
"The farmers have said that they will continue with their agitation till October. They have been fighting against the agricultural laws for the last over 70 days. Therefore, it would be prudent for the PM to take immediate measures to maintain law land order in the country," he felt.
