Mangaluru, Feb 6: Clement Fernandes and Carol D’Souza from Qatar emerged winners of the first ever season of Daijiworld 24x7 TV’s ‘MTG’ Gulf edition.
Along with Clement and Carol, six other contestants Renita D’Souza and Joel Mendonca from Oman, Joyline Gonsalves and Shelton Pinto from Kuwait, and Jenal D’Souza and Jeevas Vaz from the UAE, also fought hard for the top spot.
Mhojo Tallo Gaitalo (MTG), a unique Konkani singing reality show, after witnessing mega-success in Mangaluru, was taken overseas to four Gulf countries - Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and UAE. The show was based on the songs of Konkani music legend 'Konkan Kogull' late Wilfy Rebimbus, which was aimed to pay a rich tribute to his noble soul for carving a unique identity to the Konkani music. The show was very successful and well-received by the Konkani Music enthusiasts worldwide.
The reality TV contest was held in two categories, male and female aged 15 and above with valid residence permit. The contestants had to pick songs that are penned by late Wilfy Rebimbus only.
This Gulf-wide contest provided a platform to showcase the singing talents of Mangalureans working and living in the GCC countries, and extended a splendid opportunity and platform to the talented singing sensations and promoting them in global level. The show brought aspiring singers of astonishing quality, at par with any national-level contest.
