Udupi, Feb 5: “'Natyamayuri' fame Thanushree Pithrody from Udyavar near here is all geared up to have a go at setting the world record for the ‘most backwards body skip in one minute' in the Golden Book of World Records on Saturday February 6," said Uday Kumar, father of Thanushree.
He was speaking to media persons at Udupi Press Club here on Thursday February 4. “She will perform at the auditorium of St Cecily's Educational Institutions Brahmagiri here at 4.30 pm. This will be the sixth world record for her.
“She will attempt 48 times backwards body skip in one minute. She is preparing herself to set a new record in this field,” he said.
It may be recalled, Thanushree had performed 42 full-body revolutions in one minute and set the Guinness World Record for most full-body revolutions maintaining a chest-stand position in 2018.
The 12-year-old is a student of class 7th at St Cecily's Kannada Medium School.
She is also learning Bharatnatyam under the guidance of her teacher, Radhakrishna Kodancha, and training in Yakshagana under Aditya Ambalpady.
She has been donning ‘Huli Vesha’ (tiger dance) and performing during the Krishna Janmashtami festival.
During her attempt, Manish, CEO of Golden Book of World Record for India, will be present.
Thanushree is a versatile talented girl from Udupi, has created five new world records at her tender age. She was also awarded with Yoga Ratna for her achievement in Yoga performance and got district Rajyotsava award for her incredible achievements in various cultural activities.
Thanushree created two records at a time in 2019 in the Golden Book of World Records by performing the most number of rolls in a minute in Dhanurasana posture (61 times) and she has done 96 rolls in just 1.40 minutes. This event was held at St Cecily's school ground on February 23, 2019. Last year she has made her name in Golden Book of record in the category of ‘Chakrasana’ race.
Thanushree participated in a Yoga performance held in Italy in 2018. As many as 152 different organizations have so far recognized and honoured her incredible achievements in the Yoga field.
Thanushree is the proud daughter of Uday Kumar and Sandhya. She studies in the sixth standard at St Cecily's Kannada Medium School in Udupi.
Thanushree is getting trained under yoga teacher, Hariraj Kinnigoli, and dance teacher, Ramakrishna Kodancha, for Bharat Natyam. Besides, she also gets trained in Yakshagana from teacher Adithya Ambalpady. Her parents and teachers support all her activities to explore her talents.
