Mangaluru, Feb 3: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials had raided four spots including the office and residence of the joint director in the department of town and rural planning of the city corporation here, K V Jayaraj. During the raid, the officials found property worth Rs 1.78 crore. It is said that out of this, the ACB officials have estimated that Rs 1.1 crore was earned in excess of his known sources of income.
ACB superintendent of police Bopaiah, led the raid in Mangaluru. Four places including the quarters of Jayaraj's wife at Mahe, Kerala, residence at Padil where the officer's elder brother and father stay, and residences at Kapikad and Bejai were raided. Deputy superintendent of police Prakash, inspector Shayam Sundar, and Gururaj conducted operation all day long.

ACB officials stated that Jayaraj has been in this post since the last five years. From the year 2004, he has served at various places in the state in different government offices, they revealed. AC B said that Jayaraj has Rs 78.93 lac in the form of savings and deposits in banks, Rs 7.79 lac in cash at home, ten lac rupees in the form of insurance deposit bond, savings bank and fixed deposits in bank in the name of wife Jayashree, Rs 20 lac, Rs 3.5 lac in cash at her residence, gold ornaments and silver, ornaments worth Rs 7.64 lac at their residential accommodation.
The officer has a one storey house in five cents land at Alape Padil village here, which was acquired in 2012. Its value is Rs 17 lac. He has an apartment worth Rs 36.5 lac at fourth cross, Bejai Mangaluru, six cents vacant site worth three lac rupees at Kumpala, Someshwar, another site worth three lac rupees at Mysuru, six cent land at Ullal worth Rs 8.5 lac. Total of his movable assets has been put at Rs 68 lac.
Jayaraj has assets worth Rs 1.78 crore. His monthly pay now is Rs 82,000. His salary income is Rs 65 lac so far. His wife's salary income would have been Rs 40 lac so far. Two lac rupees bank loan and rental income of three lac rupees has been estimated.
Jayaraj has spent Rs 40 lac so far. Considering the property and expenses, the total is Rs 2.18 crore out of which estimated assets earned illegally has been calculated at Rs 1.1 crore. Imbalance o Rs 1.08 crore between the income and assets was found.
