Bengaluru, Feb 1: The School of Business and Management at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru and Mu Sigma, a leading global decision sciences company, have signed an MOU to offer an apprenticeship-based and industry integrated BBA (Decision Science) programme.
The MOU was signed on January 23 to offer such a programme for the first time in the country from the Academic Year 2021-22.
The programme is designed based on the UGC Guidelines for Higher Education institutions to offer Apprenticeship/Internship embedded Degree Programme released in July 2020 to promote employability and active linkage between the higher education system and industry, non-commercial and commercial enterprises/organizations.
This programme allows students to learn from the University and train as apprentices at Mu Sigma simultaneously. This is a three-year programme with six semesters.
The curriculum is jointly designed and delivered by CHRIST School of Business and Management and Mu Sigma. At the end of the programme, all the graduates of the programme will be given employment offer by Mu Sigma.
Deepa Mahesh, Director of Mu Sigma said, “We see an increasing gap between India’s talent pool and the needs of the business world. This requires our students to have interdisciplinary learning enabled through learning-by-doing. Mu Sigma is very happy to collaborate with CHRIST to work towards bridging this talent-challenge gap.”
The Dean of School of Business and Management Prof Jain Mathew, said “This is the first Degree programme in decision science in India and is designed collaboratively with Mu Sigma to train decision science and analytics experts who have an understanding of technology, business and management. The graduates of this programme will be able to contribute to businesses with interdisciplinary concepts and skills.”
Students from science or commerce major in Class 12 with Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science as one of the subjects from any recognised Board are eligible to apply for this programme. The admission to this programme for the academic year 2021-22 will commence shortly.
