Udupi, Feb 1: Villagers of Padukere near Malpe, as decided earlier, have put up a flex in the area warning people who have anything to do with the proposed marina beach work against entering Padukere village.
Several organizations of Padukere, who came together and held discussion with the MLA, had decided that a warning board should be put up at both the entry points of Padukere village asking people connected with the marina beach project to stay away.
The board states, "If you are associated with marina beach construction and try to enter our area, we warn you all to step back. We have already given the collective democratic response to not enter our village for any marina related works. In case you overlook this warning of the villagers and go against our decision, no one shall be held responsible for any untoward happening.”
Padukere villagers have opposed the marina project at their village, as they are afraid that it will harm nature and especially prove disastrous for their fishing profession. Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat had also held a meeting with the villagers where he had tried to convince them to approve the project but failed. The organizations of Padukere Malpe who came together, had decided to put up two flex boards on both the ends of village entrance to warn people connected with the project not to enter the village, and this was also brought to the notice of MLA at the meeting.
