Illegal mining: Show cause notice served to Damodar Mangalji & Co

Panaji, Jan 31: Damodar Mangalji & Co a mining firm has been served show-cause notice for allegedly involved in illegal mining giving the firm 15 days notice to respond by the Director of Mines and Geology.

Director of Mines and Geology had received a complaint by Gajanan Vasant Parab, following which the show cause notice has been issued for allegedly involving in illegal extraction and sale of ore. Company has fifteen days to reply to the notice failing which action will be initiated.

Several people had approached the Mines department and eight complaints were filed between February and November 2020 alleging the firm was involved in illegal mining in Pissurlem village.
