Mangaluru, Jan 31: A woman, who ordered home-delivery from ChicKing fast-food outlet located in a mall in the city, was in for a shock when she found a live worm traversing in the packet of the parcel supplied to her. She has filed a complaint in this regard with Urwa police station of the city.
Salma Simran, a resident of Ladyhill in the city, had ordered chicken and burger from ChicKing at around 7.30 pm on Saturday January 30. She received her parcel at 8 pm. However, when the complainant, her mother and children were consuming the food, they found a live worm in the chicken dish. The shocked family brought this to the notice of Urwa police station.
Giving details of the issue, Salma said, "We ordered chicken dishes and burgers from ChicKing. I was having the food with my mother and children. We saw a live worm on the food. We were shocked. We had assumed that the outlet supplies quality food. But the quality of food supplied was not upto the mark. We tried to contact the outlet several times but could not get connected. They should have checked the parcel box before packing the food. If some untoward incident had happened who would have taken responsibility?
"We had ordered six burgers. My mother and children consumed four. Two burgers were remaining for my sister and me. When I opened the burger packet to eat, I saw a live worm. This is a matter related to health, and officials concerned should take action," she said.
Responding to the issue, Keshav Das, manager of the ChicKing outlet said, "Our chicken dishes are prepared at a temperature of 163 degree temperature. There is no chance of any live worm being found in our dishes. Food is packed only after cleaning up everything. Till date, we have not received any complaint of this sort. Still, we will give the customer fresh food and also return the money. We will speak to the customer on Sunday and resolve the issue."
