Mangaluru, Jan 30: "Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary is so simple that sometimes people doubt whether he is a minister. Ministers Angara and Kota Srinivas Poojary follow the ideology that one should not be boisterous," said deputy chief minister (DCM) Laxman Savadi.
Savadi further said, "For those who have not had any accidents in five years will be given silver medal. Those who have not had any accidents in 15 years will be given gold medal. Most of the accidents occur due to heavy vehicles.
"Two people had died when my brother tried to evade colliding with a bike rider at Sankesha of Puna-Barangalur NH 4 highway as a bus hit to my brother's car. I also escaped from an accident. Only when compulsory training is given accidents can be avoided.
"In overseas countries drivers of car are called as pilots. They drive so safely. Horn is banned in England. Work of creating awareness in public along with the drivers needs to be done. Human life is priceless.
"Next month driving training centres will be established at five places. Each will cost Rs 15 crore. A similar center is going to be inaugurated on Sunday, January 31 at Holalkere. It is built at a cost of Rs 15 crore. Light motor vehicle training will be given at Kambalapadavu in a new center which will be started soon.
"After the center changes the rules, RTO will be changed. It is pending in KPSC also. There is shortage of personnel in RTO. Officer of outstation districts show interest to work in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. One who works in twin districts can work anywhere as the people of these districts are intelligent,” he said.
