Puttur: Man who cheated cooperatives with spurious gold held

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Jan 28: A person who used to pose like an ultra-rich customer and visit cooperative institutions where he pledged spurious gold ornaments and cheated them to the extent of lacs of rupees stands arrested.

The accused Girish Kumar (32) is a resident of Kayaokad House in Berike in the taluk. Two days back, he had arrived in a car bearing Kerala registration number and visited a few cooperative banks in Uppinangady. There, he projected himself as a dignitary, convinced the staff that he was in a tearing hurry and could not wait for the arrival of jewel appraiser to evaluate the ornaments. He handed over fake jewellery which weighed and looked like genuine gold. As he was in a hurry, the staff gave him loan against the pledge of these ornaments.

When he approached another cooperative institution at Uppinangady, the staff realized his fraud. However, he escaped before he could be nabbed. Two cooperative institutions thereafter filed written complaints in the police station at Uppinangady of cheating. Cases were registered, and Uppinangady police sub-inspector Eraiah D N and staff arrested the accused and produced him in the court. The court has entrusted him to police custody for interrogation. The police suspect that he would have cheated many other cooperatives in similar fashion.

Only cheaters are in hurry. So one should always doubt suppose he says in hurry.without appraisers worth, noon will give money or dangerous .one will wait if it is worth. Here in Germany many people trick old aged people ,calling and say ,he /she is a grand daughter or son,is in bank or wanting to buy car ,needs urgent money,or in a office to buy house, she should lend him so many thousands immediately,.He will send his friend who will come to her ,is on the way etc.sometimes when grand parents forget the name so or so,yes they will say.sometimes they dont have money ,must bring from bank, they ask them to take taxi and go.immediately .many do since it is their grand child is in problem.many give too. Many times even gold nuggets kept in bank falls to opfer.Never fall to such tricks.
