Mangaluru, Jan 27: After it was found that a person illegally swindled property of a widow of a martyred Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier, various like-minded associations and youth associations have joined together to bring the widow to justice.
Vasanthi Uday is the widowed wife of Uday Kumar, who served for 51st CRPF and was martyred at Chhattisgarh on August 6, 2006.
With the ex-gratia received, Vasanthi had built a house after the death of her spouse, in which she lives with her two sons. However, due to her health conditions, she could not secure herself a government job on compassionate grounds, and therefore, had rented out one part of the house. She suffers from hyperthyroidism and is somehow making her livelihood from the rental income and compensation.
In November 2016, she had rented the room to a couple, Mamatha and Sunil Kumar (46), residents of Mangaluru. Vasanthi has now accused Sunil of forging her house documents and claiming her property in his name. Vasanthi also accused Sunil of not paying the rent for the past four years. “He (Sunil), using several illegal tactics including Reiki and black magic, forced me to sign property documents without my knowledge. He forged the document as I never signed it on my own. He also took out a loan in my name, which I am having to repay. Apart from it, he has filed a police complaint against me and my two teenage sons. I tried several ways including legal but nothing helped,” she explained her ordeal.
Vasanthi has also filed a complaint against Sunil for harassment and forgery. She further alleged that Sunil has been threatening her and her teenaged sons. She also said that Sunil has filed a false complaint against her two sons at Kavoor police station. “As I am unable to work and pay loans, my 19-year-old who was supposed to continue his studies is now working to support the family,” she added.
The issue has been brought to the notice of higher officials of CRPF in Bengaluru. They even visited Mangaluru and spoke to concerned government officials including city police commissioner and deputy commissioner.
