Ballari, Jan 25: "We have enacted cow slaughter prohibition. In a short while, we will enact ban on Love Jihad. Our party has taken many steps to protect the women and their interests. Including triple talaq ban, we have framed different schemes for the protection of women. The special status given to Jammu and Kashmir has also been withdrawn," said state BJP president Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Speaking at the state level BJP women's executive conference on Sunday, he said that India is a country where mothers are seen as the centres of power, and women are looked upon as mothers. He said that the women here have knowledge of scriptures and know how to handle arms if necessary. "Looking at their potential, I feel they need to be given 50 percent representation, not 33 percent," he said.
Speaking at Koppal thereafter, he said that MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, has been advised to watch his words and his statement details have been provided to the central disciplinary committee of the party. He said that the illegal mining and sand extraction started during the period of Siddaramaiah and the BJP government took steps to control the menace after coming to power.
