Hassan, Jan 25: On Sunday January 24, the police took into custody seven vehicles and arrested two persons. Four tonnes of beef was found packed in plastic containers used for fish transportation, in order to pass it off as fish. The beef was sent to be transported to Mangaluru.
Alur police station police sub-inspector (crime), Dinesh Kumar, was on patrol duty on Saturday night. On the basis of information he received, he went to a shed in Prukruti Nagar, Alur. At the sight of policemen, the accused ran away, leaving behind the vehicles.
A person identified as Munna, who was hiding behind the bushes nearby, was taken into custody. On questioning him, the police came to know that the illegal beef transportation had been planned from there.
