Bantwal, Jan 23: Thieves who entered Parla church in Navoor village also entered a grocery shop, bar etc located on the highway, where they searched for cash and damaged holy things.
Even though the thieves broke open the church door, they did not get valuables to steal. They are believed to have returned empty handed. The incident happened on Friday January 22 night.
Thieves entered the bar owned by Veerendra Amin at Vagga and decamped with Rs 7,500 from the cash counter, DVR of the CC camera and internet instruments. The thieves also damaged some items in the bar. The thieves have also broken open and entered seven other shops in the vicinity and ransacked valuables.
The thieves have also entered a fancy shop and grocery shop belonging to Gopala.
Bantwal rural police have visited the sites and are investigating.
