Mangaluru: Drug peddlers arrested - Ganja, vehicles, phones worth Rs 33 lac seized

Mangaluru Jan 22: City crime branch (CCB) police seized 44.63 kg of ganja and arrested 7 persons under Ullal and Konaje police station limits.

On January 21, Mangaluru city police received credible information on huge quantity of ganja being transported to Mangaluru city in two cars from Bidar and Telangana. Acting on the information, CCB police conducted raids under Ullal and Konaje station limits.

The arrested are Azeez (44) and Mohiudeen Hafiz (34), both resident of Bantwal, Vittal Chawan (35), from Telangana, and Sanju Kumar (34) and Kallappa (40), both from Bidar. Two cars, 40 kg ganja and seven mobile phones which were in the accused’s possession were seized.

“The case was further investigated by Ullal police and two more accused Mohammed Hafiz (23), resident of Bantwal and Sandeep, a resident of Gurupur, were arrested. A total of 44.63 kg of ganja worth Rs 9,75,000, two cars, one scooter and seven mobile phones worth Rs 23,25,000, were seized in the two cases.

“Among the accused, 3 ganja peddling cases at Konaje police station and one case each at Kavoor and Ullal police station have been registered against Azeez, 6 cases are filed against Hafiz inclduing Konaje police station, cases are registered in Andhra Pradesh against Sanju Kumar and Kallapa, and a murder case has been filed in Andhra Pradesh against Vittal Chawan.

“During probe, we came to know that they were planning to sell the ganja in retail at Mangaluru and Kasargod as they have connection with drug peddlers here. When there is such huge amount of ganja at disposal, there has to be a big network which we are probing in depth,” said the police commissioner.

    They didn’t get 15 lacs in their account so they started own business vocal for local through aatmanirbhar. Now they are waiting to get free home by 2022.

    He is using the broom to sweep Mangaluru actual troubles such as gang war, land mafia, mining mafia, logging mafia etc under the bed where it can't be seen. In newspaper 10 lac ganja seizure will be worth two lines in middle pages NOT headline.
