Panaji, Jun 17: Goa Bench of Bombay High court will hear the anticipatory bail petitions filed by former tourism minister Fransisco Mickey Pacheco and his aide Lyndon Monteiro on Thursday, June 17, the lawyer said.
“The court will hear the anticipatory bail petitions filed by Pacheco and Monteiro tomorrow at 10.30 a.m.,” Amit Palekar, legal counsel for Monteiro, said.
Both are wanted by Crime Branch in connection with death of Nadia Torrado, 28, who died allegedly after consuming rat poison.
Monteiro earlier had withdrawn the anticipatory bail petition on technical ground when prosecution pointed out that the petition filed by his mother on his behalf does not stand. He has now filed fresh bail petition.
Pacheco too has moved high court pleading for anticipatory bail pleading that he was being framed in this case because he had expressed concern over drug trade in the state and demanded inquiry into involvement of a senior politician’s son in it.
Earlier this month, Sessions court in Margao had rejected anticipatory bail pleas of both. Crime Branch in their `say’ before the court had stated that Pacheco had abetted the crime while Monteiro had helped him destroy the evidence.
Police had sought custodial interrogation of both the accused, who are on the run and missing since June 06.Crime Branch had taken statement of Pacheco on June 05 for almost nine hours.
