Bengaluru, Jan 21: During the Congress protest against the farm act here on Wednesday January 20, Jayanagar MLA Sowmya Reddy, assaulted an on-duty policewoman. After the video of the legislator's high-handedness became viral, people rained criticism on Sowmya.
When the Congress leaders tried to move towards the Raj Bhavan, the police stopped them and took them into custody. When a lady police constable came forward to usher her into the vehicle, Sowmya assaulted her. She then complained to Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, D K Shivakumar. She also visited the office of the police commissioner and complained against the police.

She said she was pushed around and that the police behaved badly with her. But the police said that they checked footage of all the TV cameras and none had anything to prove the allegation.
In the meanwhile, BJP leaders and many others urged the authorities through the social media to register a case and take action against MLA Sowmya Reddy for obstructing the police on duty and assaulting her. BJP joint spokesperson, S Prakash, tweeted, urging the police to register a case against the MLA.
